The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned a Rs 330 crore drinking water project for Guntur under the Amrut-2 scheme, using a concessionaire hybrid annuity model (CHAM) to ease financial burden. The project includes constructing a new filtration plant on 16 acres near Gorantla village and a gravity-fed overhead reservoir. Current supply from two plants totals 100 MLD, while demand has risen to 160200 MLD. The project aims to meet the citys water needs for the next two to three decades and includes 10 years of maintenance by the contractor at no extra cost.
