Bioplastic Sector News India

Balrampur Chini Mills will establish India’s first large-scale polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastics plant under the “Bioyug” brand by October 2026. The Rs. 2,850 crore facility will use sugarcane to produce 80,000 tonnes per year of compostable, low-emission plastics at an undisclosed location. The project aims for green products to contribute 50% of revenue by FY27–28, supporting India’s transition to sustainable bioplastics and low-carbon industrial materials.
