EcoStarch, a Nagaland-based MSME, is spearheading a transformative project in Mokokchung district by producing compostable bioplastic bags from cassava starch. The initiative, supported by NECTAR, involves setting up a local manufacturing facility and mobilizing nearby farmers to grow cassava. The current production capacity is 3 tons per month, with growing demand. The project aims to enhance the local economy by creating jobs, supporting women self-help groups, and offering alternative livelihoods through cassava farming. EcoStartch’s efforts are fostering a greener economy, promoting sustainable practices, and empowering rural communities. The success of this project is expected to serve as a model for similar initiatives across India.
