CEA clears 7.5 GW hydro PSPs in FY25

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has granted techno-economic clearance to six hydro-pumped storage projects (PSPs) totalling approximately 7.5 GW for FY25. Projects include Upper Indravati (600 MW), Sharavathy (2,000 MW), Bhivpuri (1,000 MW), Bhavali (1,500 MW), MP-30 (1,920 MW), and Chitravathi (500 MW). The Ministry of Power targets clearing 13 PSPs totaling 22 GW in FY26, with plans for commissioning most of them by 2030 to support renewable energy objectives.
