First Girder Installed for Carnac Overbridge in Mumbai

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) successfully installed the first girder for the Carnac Overbridge, linking Central Railways Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Masjid stations, after a three-hour special traffic and power supply block on October 20. This significant milestone is part of the reconstruction of the vital east-west link in South Mumbai, following the demolition of the original British-era structure. The south-side girder, weighing 550 metric tonnes and spanning 70 meters, was launched on October 14, with technical supervision provided by RITES Limited. The second girder installation is scheduled for December, aiming to enhance connectivity and ease congestion in the area.
