Foundation Laid for Ichamati River Bridge in West Bengal

The Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, has laid the foundation stone for a single-lane bridge over the Ichamati River in Swarupnagar, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The bridge, with an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore, will be constructed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) to ensure safer transit and uninterrupted river navigation. A second bridge at Taranipur, estimated at Rs 136.20 crore, is also under consideration as part of the Sagarmala Project to further improve regional connectivity.
