GVMC to launch Rs. 40 crore slum redevelopment

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation will establish a Slum Rehabilitation Authority under the Visakhapatnam Economic Region plan. Two PPP-based redevelopment projects at Velampeta and Indira Gandhi Nagar, costing Rs. 40 crore, will construct G+12 and G+6 residential towers for 287 families. The projects will provide free housing, improved sanitation, and public amenities, while developers receive TDR and additional FSI incentives, enabling urban transformation without fiscal burden on the state.
