The Ministry of Coal has unveiled major incentives to promote underground coal mining in India. Key reforms include reducing the floor revenue share from 4% to 2% and waiving upfront payment requirements for new underground projects. Combined with a 50% rebate on performance security, these measures aim to ease financial barriers, accelerate project implementation, and attract private investment. The move supports sustainable coal extraction practices, encourages advanced mining technologies, and aligns with Indias energy security and self-reliance goals.
