India has deployed its first MWh-scale vanadium redox flow battery system at NTPC NETRA in Greater Noida, marking a major advancement in long-duration energy-storage infrastructure. The installation enhances grid reliability, supports renewable-integration needs, and demonstrates the viability of utility-scale flow battery technology for long-duration storage applications. The system is designed for improved chargedischarge efficiency, long asset life, and flexibility in peak-load management. This milestone strengthens Indias energy-independence strategy and accelerates adoption of advanced storage technologies.
