India expands natural gas and renewable infrastructure

India is pursuing a low-carbon growth path, raising natural gas share in its energy mix from 6% to 15% by 2030. Plans include expanding pipelines from 25,429 km to 33,475 km and LNG capacity from 52.7 to 66.7 MTPA. Nationwide, 113 CBG plants are operational, 78 more are planned, and 1.52 crore households have piped gas connections. Targets also include 500 GW non-fossil power, five million tonne green hydrogen, and lower renewable project costs via GST cuts.
