Indian Railways Unveils 115 kWp Rooftop Solar Plant at Guntakal Electric Loco Shed

Indian Railways recently announced the commissioning of a 115 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on-grid rooftop solar power plant at the Electric Loco Shed in Guntakal Division. This new facility is expected to generate 1.68 lakh kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually, significantly contributing to the railway’s ongoing “green drive” and its ambitious target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. This initiative further strengthens Guntakal Division’s role as a leader in sustainable railway operations, following the success of the fully solar-powered Nandyal-Yerraguntla railway section.
