JSW Steel Seeks Exemption for Upgradation at Salem Plant

JSW Steel Limited, Salem Works (JSWSL) has applied for exemption under General Conditions of its Environmental Clearance dated 10.02.2020. The request pertains to value addition and technological upgrades at its existing 1.3 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant in Salem, Tamil Nadu. The plant, located in village Pottaneri and M. Kalipatti, Mecheri, Taluk Mettur, was granted environmental clearance for an expansion from 1.0 MTPA to 1.3 MTPA under EC file number J-11011/281/2006-1A. II (1) on 17.07.2017. While some expansion activities have been implemented to produce 1.15 MTPA of steel, the remaining activities are yet to commence.
