JSW to modernise container facilities at Kolkata Dock

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has signed a 30-year concession agreement with JSW Infrastructure for a Rs. 740 crore project at Netaji Subhas Dock. The project will modernise container handling with reconstruction of Berth 8, installation of rail-mounted quay cranes at Berths 7 and 8, and use of a 25-acre backup area. The upgraded terminal is expected to handle five lakh TEUs annually.
