The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has given the green light to the highly anticipated Pod Taxi project, aimed at enhancing transportation in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Also known as Personal Rapid Transport (PRT), this innovative mode of transit offers swift, point-to-point services, promising a new era of efficient urban mobility. The project’s key highlights include compact yet efficient pods accommodating 3 to 6 passengers each and a proposed route spanning 8.80 kilometers with 38 strategically located stations. Operating at a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour, these sleek vehicles will revolutionize intra-BKC travel with their swift and hassle-free service. Implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the project underscores collaborative efforts between government entities and private stakeholders to address the city’s transportation needs effectively.
