Mumbai’s Mega Makeover: Bids Revealed for Rs.16,621 Cr Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road!

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation’s ambitious Rs.16,621 crore Versova-Dahisar Coastal Road project is advancing with bids from six renowned infrastructure firms, including Larsen and Toubro (L&T), J Kumar Infraprojects, NCC Ltd, Megha Engineering, APCO Infraprojects, and Afcons Infrastructure Ltd.
Having floated six tenders for the project’s packages in August 2023, the civic body recently opened bids. The comprehensive construction plan encompasses elevated roads, a cable-stayed bridge, an innovative arched “basket” bridge, as well as strategically designed ramps and tunnels.
In the project’s second phase, an intricate network of underground tunnels and bridges is set to connect Versova and Dahisar. The underground tunnel, slated to run below the creeks in Malad and Kandivali, will utilize advanced Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).
The finalization of bids will follow a meticulous technical evaluation, expected to span a couple of months. Subsequently, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be unveiled, revealing the lowest bidder and the potential contractor for each package.
The project is intelligently divided into six distinct packages. Package A will cover 4.5 km from Versova to Bangur Nagar (Goregaon), while Package B will span 1.66 km between Bangur Nagar and Mindspace (Malad). Packages C and D will include north and south-bound carriageways between Mindspace and Charkop (Kandivali), each spanning 3.66 km.
Package E, extending over 3.78 km, will seamlessly connect Charkop with Gorai, and the final Package F, covering 3.69 km, will establish a vital link between Gorai and Dahisar.
