Railways Approves Rs. 757-Crore TambaramChengalpattu Fourth Line

The Ministry of Railways has approved construction of a fourth line between Tambaram and Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs. 757.18 crore. Implemented by Southern Railway, the 30.02 km project will enhance capacity on the congested Chennai corridor. It will support freight movement under the Energy, Mineral & Cement Corridor while improving suburban services. Post-completion, the route will handle increased passenger load and generate Rs. 157 crore in annual revenue.
