Rs. 7,250 crore WR–ER transmission expansion approved

A Rs. 7,250 crore interregional transmission scheme, called WR–ER Inter-regional Network Expansion, has been approved to boost power transfer capacity between Western and Eastern grids. Scheduled for completion by March 2029, the project has three packages under competitive bidding and tariff mechanisms. Key works include 765/400kV substations at Jamshedpur and Raigarh, 315 km of high-capacity lines, and links to Odisha. The scheme will manage peak solar loads and support new thermal plant evacuation in Chhattisgarh.
