Tamil Nadu Budget Allocates Rs 12,000 Crore for Chennai Metro Rail Phase-II

The Tamil Nadu government’s budget for 2024-25 designates Rs 12,000 crore for the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project. The expansion covers 119 km across three routes, with a rapid implementation at a total cost of Rs 63,246 crore. The first elevated stretch, from Poonamalle to Kodambakkam, is set to be operational by December 2025. Further extensions, including routes from Koyambedu to Avadi and Poonamalle to Parandur, are in the planning stage.
