TANTRANSCO begins major underground EHT cable upgrade in Trichy

Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation has launched a Rs. 26.71 crore upgrade of the Mannarpuram substation in Trichy through the installation of underground extra-high-tension transmission cables. The project will increase the substation’s capacity from 33/11 kV to 110/11 kV and triple its load-handling capability. A seven-kilometre EHT corridor, including 2.4 km along key highways, will be constructed using horizontal directional drilling to minimise road disruption. Sixteen transmission towers will also be added, improving Trichy’s power reliability.
