Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, announced a groundbreaking initiative to establish 100 compressed bio-gas (CBG) plants across Uttar Pradesh. This move, aimed at environmental preservation, bolstering farmers’ income, and achieving energy self-reliance, marks a significant stride in sustainable development. Speaking at the inauguration of the Indian Oil CBG plant in Gorakhpur’s Dhuriapur, Puri highlighted the project’s importance. Indian Oil’s investment of Rs 165 crore in the venture underscores its commitment to renewable energy. The plant, with daily capacities for agricultural residue, pressed mud, and cattle dung, is poised to produce substantial quantities of biogas and organic fertilizer, heralding a new era of eco-friendly energy production and agricultural sustainability.
