Uttar Pradesh announces Rs. 74 crore drainage projects

Uttar Pradesh will construct seven new drainage projects in FY26 across Bahraich, Bijnor, Gonda, Hapur, and Meerut at a cost of Rs. 74.3 crore. The initiative aims to address waterlogging, improve irrigation flow, and reduce flood risks in rural areas. Alongside new construction, 17,500 km of existing drains are targeted for cleaning by March 2026, with 11,065 km already completed, strengthening agricultural water management.
