Kavach 5.0 rollout for Mumbai suburban network

The Ministry of Railways is set to deploy Kavach 5.0, an advanced train protection system, optimized for Mumbai’s suburban railway network. Concurrently, development of over 300 km of new rail lines worth Rs. 17,000 crore is underway in Maharashtra. A Rs. 4,819 crore project to double the 240-km Gondia-Ballarshah line will ease congestion and boost connectivity between Vidarbha and Marathwada. Plans also include the induction of 238 new AC trains tailored to Mumbai’s daily commuters.
