Mumbai Metro 3 Set to Commence Operations After 6-Year Wait: Phased Opening Planned
Metro Rail Sector News | Project News | Project Update | Project Opportunities
After six years of anticipation, Mumbai’s Metro 3 corridor is finally set to commence operations, with the Mumbai Metro authority adopting a phased approach for the Cuffe Parade-BKC-Seepz corridor. Extensive tunnelling work began nearly six years ago to connect Cuffe Parade, Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), and Seepz. The metro authority is now preparing for trial runs on a short segment of the corridor, with the planned opening occurring in three stages: initially linking Seepz with BKC, followed by an extension to Worli in Phase II, and concluding with the stretch reaching Cuffe Parade in the final phase. This strategic rollout aims to ensure safety and reliability while gradually enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion across key areas of Mumbai.
