Environmental clearance is sought for the Banhardih coal block, a proposed coal mine in the Auranga coalfield, Latehar district, Jharkhand. Allocated to M/s Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), a subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. and the Government of Jharkhand, the block spans a total area of 1818.10 hectares, with a mine lease area of 1467.42 hectares and a rated capacity of 12.0 MTPA.
