Shree Cement’s Revolutionary Plant Inauguration Sets New Standards in Eco-Friendly Cement Production
Shree Cement, a frontrunner in India’s cement industry, has once again made waves with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art integrated plant in Dachepalli village, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. This monumental achievement, realized six months ahead of schedule, underscores Shree Cement’s unwavering commitment to sustainable growth and innovation in the construction sector.
The newly inaugurated plant, boasting a cement production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per annum (MTPA), marks a significant addition to Shree Cement’s manufacturing prowess. With an investment exceeding Rs 2,500 crore, the Guntur plant represents the company’s sixth integrated production facility in India, strategically positioned to cater to the burgeoning markets of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement Ltd., reiterated the company’s dedication to responsible growth and environmental stewardship. The Guntur plant exemplifies this commitment by leveraging advanced technology for manufacturing and emissions control, ensuring the production of high-quality cement while optimizing energy consumption. Moreover, the plant’s focus on inclusive value creation extends to fostering employment opportunities and partnering with local communities to drive economic growth and well-being in the region.
A standout feature of the plant is its innovative approach to environmental sustainability. Designed to utilize 30% alternate fuels and raw materials (AFR), such as municipal waste and biomass, the facility sets a new standard for the industry in India. The innovative placement of the Limestone Crusher 40ft below ground level within the mining pit effectively reduces diesel usage, showcasing the plant’s commitment to eco-friendly operations.
Furthermore, approximately 75% of the plant’s total power requirement is met through in-house waste heat recovery and solar power plants, highlighting its substantial reliance on renewable energy sources. Additionally, the plant operates as a zero-wastage facility and is entirely water-positive, returning more water, primarily rainwater, into the mining pit than it consumes within the plant.
Shree Cement’s forward-thinking approach extends beyond environmental sustainability to operational efficiency and product innovation. With a focus on enhancing brand equity, raising cost efficiency, and ramping up research and development efforts, the company is poised to set new benchmarks of excellence in the industry.
The commissioning of the Guntur unit marks a significant milestone in Shree Cement’s journey towards achieving its production target of 80 MTPA capacity by 2028. With sustainability as the cornerstone of its growth strategy, Shree Cement is dedicated to delivering the most environmentally friendly building solutions to its customers.
