Power Sector News India
Paschim Gujarat Vij Company (PGVCL) is implementing a Rs. 3,000 crore, three-year programme across 12 districts of Saurashtra and Kutch to improve electricity reliability. The project involves replacing corroded 11 kV bare conductors with medium voltage covered conductors (MVCC), a first-of-its-kind technology in India. The initiative addresses corrosion from Gujarats 700 km coastline and vegetation-related outages. Tenders worth Rs. 1,000 crore have already been allotted under Phase I, partly funded through the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
