MoP Drafts Amendment Mandating Indigenous Battery Software Development

The Ministry of Power (MoP) has issued a draft amendment on August 4, 2025, to the Principal Secretaries of energy departments across 14 states. The amendment mandates the indigenous development of application software for battery energy storage systems under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme. This move aims to enhance self-reliance in energy storage technology and ensure secure, domestically developed software solutions for grid-scale battery deployments.
